There’s a dance that happens between director and actor. The right partnership can be magic!

For our February meeting we will go beyond casting and talk about building the relationship between the director and the actor during pre-production and on set.

We have an amazing panel lined up. We will be joined by Los Angeles based Billy Cowart, actor and acting teacher (www.wcistudios.com); San Diego based Terry Ross, director, actor and acting teacher (www.actingprofessionally.com); Los Angeles based actor Merrick McCartha (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3295021/); and San Diego-based actor Karenssa LeGear (http://www.karenssa.com).

Topics for the panel discussion include:

  • How the director can best communicate their vision of the project and the character to the actor

  • An actor's process for bringing the character to life including development of the backstory

  • What type of information the director can provide to add nuance to the backstory

  • On set, how the director can best communicate and coach when needed including what is helpful for an actor to hear and what is not helpful

The panel will be moderated by award winning producer and writer Jane Hare (www.linkedin.com/in/janehare)

Mark your calendar - you won’t want to miss this lively discussion!

The meeting starts at 6pm for check-in and a chance to mingle and meet other media professionals. The formal presentation begins at 7pm and we will wrap by 9pm.

Members: Included with your membership.
Non-Members: $15 pre-registered, $20 at the door.

Refreshments, snacks and light appetizers will be served.
