What is storytelling? And if your video storytelling is based on interviews, how can you ensure you get amazing soundbites? This month, SD Media Pros uncovers how planning and structure lead to an emotional result.

What makes an amazing interview? How do you prepare in advance and direct an interview to capture the best material and the elusive perfect soundbite? Award-winning producer, director, and writer Jane Hare will share how she directs interviews to create high impact scripted yet unscripted messages with a storytelling perspective. From CEOs to high risk youth, Jane has a way of making all types of people feel comfortable in front of the camera while capturing defined key messages.

Then, the secret to a great film, a great video, and a great commercial: storytelling. But what is storytelling? The idea of a story is based on a structure that has been around for thousands of years. And though the stories may change, the structure stays the same. Award-winning writer, producer, and editor Michael Towe will share how he uses story structure and emotional storytelling to help his clients use media and connect with their audience. Michael will cover basic story structure, why telling a story is an impactful way to reach an audience emotionally, and why you want to grab their emotions in the first place.
