Her Name Was Moviola - A Film Screening

JOIN US FOR A FASCINATING DOCUMENTARY ON THE HISTORY OF SOUND EDITING

The Moviola is an analogue editing machine with two pedals, one for advancing, the other for rewinding film, with a small screen and speaker for sound. It may look ungainly to people used to editing videos on their phones, but the Moviola was an engineering miracle of efficiency and portability. It was passionately loved and admired by filmmakers, and was in use in basically the same form for most of cinema’s existence, from its invention in 1922 until the 21st century.

Her Name Was Moviola, a love letter to this technology, is a 2024 English documentary film written by Walter Murch, and produced and directed by Howard Berry.

Watch the film trailer and then grab a ticket before we sell out.

The film is presented in partnership with Video ApproachMax Lux Media and the SD Premiere Pro Users group.
