Film initiative funding passed

The San Diego County Board of Supervisors unanimously passed a $500k for a film commission - this is huge news for our industries.

From the Union Tribune about the city budget:
Other last-minute additions included $750,000 for a program that helps small businesses, $900,000 to help council offices fund community events and $200,000 to restore a position devoted to promoting San Diego as a setting for movies and TV.

The San Diego County Board of Supervisors originally advanced the San Diego County Film Initiative in April 2026, a plan to restore and expand film, television, and digital media production in the region as a job-creating economic driver
